Written during Alix Klingenberg's Generative Poetry Circle on Sat, a poem of gratitude. I literally wept as I was finishing it yesterday morning. And continued to weep as I reread it and polished it.
What a gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous poem, Rebecca. Like a symphony. Like a love song to oneself. The albatross queen. The butter knife. The ice cream all coming together. Simply marvelous.
P.S. Don't judge me please, but I take instant coffee 😬
I LOVE butter rum ice cream! Rebecca, you simply took flight here. The poem is a gull and it is riding the wings of a my musical zephyr.
Thank you. This is what friends and poetry can do. You have made my excellent day ever so much more excellent adding a depth and dimension that only perfectly flowed words can do...
Bless you and the spirit you cracked into with this one...
We recently switched to perked coffee. It's what I remember from growing up, and I can drink IT black. It's so good....like all the church meetings and funerals I look back on. And being at my granny's house. And back in the kitchen as a toddler, drinking the cold dregs from my parents' cups.
Well.... In the Outback you get relaxed rules, and plunger coffee is acceptable, or a little drip filter.
I've even got a small one I take backpacking in the wilderness - mains electricity and espresso machines being incompatible with that activity, whilst caffeine is essential! :)
And here's the proof! @jedmoffitt Can't paste a photo into a comment, but here is a link to my photo. Note tin mug with drip filter on top, just above the billy, to left of fire.
I'm so glad you're inspired, Mohika. If you haven't looked into participating in one of the poetry groups offered on Substack, I highly recommend. A lot of work is generated in these groups. Message me for details.
I love how you start a conversation, Rebecca. Just waking this morning I wonder how it would be if we all gathered in a coffee shop and just talked poetry and shit.

I think all coffee is good because it's, like, COFFEE. Thanks, darling, Nazish.
Sometimes it's all just too much to bear, and so rather than say, stop, you say, Yes.
And what's so marvelous is the infinite combinations like bagels, pillows, and ice cream. If you said no, you wouldn't get to enjoy them.
😊❤️👏🙏
Bagels, pillows, ice cream. All are SOFT. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Thanks, Jed. I am glad it made you happy. It makes me happy, too, to be writing my way out of despair.
Oh Happy poem of Happiness!
"What is this thing you call
butter rum ice cream?"
I love it all - except that.... Australians reject the false demi-Gods of the percolator coffee.
.
We worship the true deity - The mighty God of the Espresso Machine!!!
(My greatest problem - when travelling in the USA - is finding good espresso coffee).
Dave :)

😱 🙈 😱
It’s okay though.
Yr secret is safe with me.
I won’t tell the Coffee Inquisition!

hahahahaha
I don't understand the problem with percolator coffee. In the outback, don't you just throw the grounds in a Folgers can full of boiling water?
hahaha yeah....

NOW....that's a cool idea! What if we did? What if we had a Zoom Poet's Coffee? I'm liking this idea a LOT.
Yesssss
This is really YOUR poem, because you're mad at not being a bird!
Hahah that’s right!
