NEW TREE CITY
a visual essay on socioeconomics, social class, and how we build cities.
Zoom in and explore NEW TREE CITY. This is a visual essay on social class, social control, and economics. How we build cities. Why we build them this way.
There are no cars in this city. And no bikes. There are trains, and walking paths and trails. You can travel on foot and get to anywhere in the city. A deep forest surrounds the city and one can exit to the forest down the stairs on the lower right.
Just as in many cities, the poor live on the opposite side from the rich, so in this way, the socioeconomic classes are segregated. The rich have their own shops, their on schools. They have private green spaces. They are closest to the medical center. They have access to 3 train stops, more than any other section of the city.
What else can you see? In what ways is this like your city? How is it different? The city planners have worked to build equity for all. How well did they do?
In what ways could the city be better? What are its major flaws? What has it done well?
I look forward to your comments.

Oooh woooo....
Sim City for Poets. Town Planners instead of Pentameters.
Any town which has space for the Love Shack, baby, is starting well, and I adore the inclusion of an Alchemist.
However my understanding is that the truly uber rich have all fucked off already, to live in armoured fortress bunkers somewhere on the shaky assumption that their hired help won't turn the guns on them once the zombie apocalypse arrives.
Meg and I will be living in a tree house in the mountains.
Love from us

I love the centrality of the library and museum. By the way, I’m curious: what is the Equity?
